Victor Munoz speaks out on £34.5m Liverpool transfer

Victor Munoz has admitted he still hasn’t fully taken in his move to Liverpool, telling the Liverpool Echo that events have unfolded too quickly for it to properly sink in. The Victor Munoz Liverpool transfer was completed when the Reds activated the release clause in his Osasuna contract, bringing the Spaniard to Anfield this summer.

“I think the fact that everything happened so fast hasn’t given me time to fully process it, and I think that’s good for both me and my family,” Munoz said.

World Cup frustration and Osasuna release clause details

Munoz was part of Spain’s World Cup winning squad this summer, yet he didn’t feature in a single match. An injury that refused to properly clear kept him on the sidelines throughout the tournament, even as his country lifted the trophy.

“Look, it was a lot of mixed emotions,” Munoz said. He explained that the issue kept recurring, dragging on through the tournament and leaving him short of full fitness throughout.

That World Cup place came after a rapid rise for Munoz, who scored on his international debut against Serbia in March and then earned his competitive cap in a 4-1 win over Croatia. Liverpool moved for him soon after, finalising the transfer by triggering the release clause in his Osasuna contract.

Adapting to Andoni Iraola and Premier League intensity

The Victor Munoz Liverpool transfer has already started to look shrewd on the pitch. He marked his full debut for the club with a goal against Nottingham Forest in August, an early sign that life under Andoni Iraola suits him. Since then, he has spoken in detail about how different English football feels compared to Spain.

“I really like following La Liga. I do notice quite a few differences compared to the Premier League. La Liga is much more tactical, while Premier League matches are much more physical,” Munoz said.

“Where I notice the biggest difference compared to past years is the intensity of the training sessions and all that physical work. Honestly, it’s very demanding over there and it’s helping me grow,” Munoz added.

Upcoming schedule and national team focus

Munoz has featured for Liverpool in recent weeks, including the recent match at St James’ Park and the away win against Bournemouth, before linking up with Spain for the latest round of internationals. He sounds settled on both fronts right now.

“Right now, I’m in a good moment both at Liverpool and here with the national team, and I’m focused on the next match,” Munoz said.
