Wright concerned about Shaqiri’s lack of game time

BBC pundit and former Premier League striker Ian Wright has expressed his concern about Xherdan Shaqiri’s lack of playing time for Liverpool in recent weeks.

As reported on the Mirror, Shaqiri has found himself on the bench a lot more frequently in recent months, despite being an influential player for the team early on in the season.

The Swiss international has not been given a single minute in Liverpool’s last four matches, which has concerned Wright.

When speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Wright said:

What’s happened to Shaqiri? What’s happening?

You say that [his form has dipped], who did he [Klopp] bring on in front of him [against Fulham ]? I have seen he has brought other players on in front of Shaqiri.

We have seen that Shaqiri has made a difference earlier on in the season. You say his form has dropped, but it seems to me like something has happened.

A large portion of Liverpool fans have also been left scratching their heads as many can’t get their head around Shaqiri being left as a bench warmer.

The former Stoke City winger will be hoping to still play a key part in Liverpool’s season as they push for the Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League.
