As one of the better right-backs in the history of the Premier League, Pablo Zabaleta has seen some amazing attacking players and systems and the Argentinian was full of praise for Liverpool after they defeated his West Ham side 4-1 at the weekend.
The 33-year-old, who had a decorated career at Manchester City, said that although the Hammers gave a good account of themselves in the first half, they din’t play well enough to compete with the Reds after the break.
He said:
I thought in the first half we were good, we had a good few chances, but in the second half we were not good enough. They are a team that are intense, they keep going forward and have quality up front. They are so direct and they make the runs in behind. They create chances playing that way and they can score goals. It is always hard any time you come here. I think they are a really good team to be honest.
When asked what it was like facing Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, Zabaleta was full of praise for the trio.
Those three guys up front now are in a really good moment. They are difficult to play against. They don’t give a point of reference, they are so mobile. They are good players. In the second half we gave them too many chances.
