Liverpool linked with move for Valon Berisha

Austrian outlet Spox, as cited by Teamtalk, are reporting that Liverpool are one of the teams interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Valon Berisha.

Fabian Zerche, the journalist who wrote the report for Spox, says that Liverpool have been monitoring the 25-year-old in recent weeks and even had a scout watching him when Salzburg’s knocked Borussia Dortmund out of the Europa League.

Furthermore, Zerche reveals that Liverpool have been in contact with Berisha’s representatives about a possible summer transfer.

Berisha has been at Salzburg since 2012, where he has played alongside current Liverpool star Sadio Mane and soon-to-be Liverpool star Naby Keita.

Liverpool have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent weeks and Berisha, who has 13 goals and nine assists for Salzburg this season, is the latest name to be linked with a move to Anfield.

With Emre Can set to leave the club and with doubts about the fitness of Adam Lallana and to a lesser extent Jordan Henderson, it makes sense for the Reds to be looking at midfield options.

Berisha has mainly operated from the left this season, but we’ve seen with Gini Wijnaldum that Jurgen Klopp is happy to modify a player’s position slightly if he thinks they have the right skill set to do a job for the team.
