Liverpool have announced that Pepijn Lijnders has re-joined the club’s coaching staff.
Lijnders left the Reds to take up a managerial role at Dutch side NEC, but following his departure, he’s rejoined Jurgen Klopp’s first-team coaching staff in what Liverpool call a ‘senior capacity’.
The Dutchman moved to Liverpool back in 2014 and during his time at Anfield, he assisted both Brendan Rodgers and Klopp.
He left to take up his first managerial role in his homeland, but in a few weeks ago, he was sacked after NEC failed to gain promotion to the Eredivisie.
With Zeljko Buvac looking like his career as a coach with Liverpool is over, the return of the highly-respected Lijnders will give the Reds a boost.
The 35-year-old is well respected by everybody at Melwood and his return is likely to be met with great appreciation from the Liverpool players and staff.
