Celtic consider offering Jon Flanagan a contract
Celtic are considering signing Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan on a free transfer, according to reports.
The 25-year-old will become a free agent at the end of June as Liverpool have decided not to renew his contract and as such, he’s looking for a new club.
The defender, who can play at left-back and right back, spent the second half of last season on loan at with Bolton, where he featured in nine games.
Flanagan was part of Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool side that came so close to winning the Premier League title back in 2013/14, and his form at that time earned him an international call up.
However, he’s not quite managed to hit those heights under Jurgen Klopp, hence why he’s being released.
Things haven’t been smooth for Flanagan off the pitch either. He was arrested in December 2017 after he admitted assaulting his girlfriend, a crime for which he was sentenced to 40 hours of unpaid work and a 12-month community order.
