Liverpool have opened talks with Stoke City over a deal to sign Xherdan Shaqiri, according to John Percy of The Telegraph.
The Switzerland international is looking for a move back to the Premier League after Stoke’s relegation to the Championship and it looks like Liverpool will be his new club.
According to Percy, there is a release clause in Shaqiri’s contract with Stoke but it is believed to be slightly higher than the £12m figure which was reported last month.
Jurgen Klopp has identified the Swiss star as a player who he’d like to sign and as such, The Reds are expected to pay over £13m to bring him to Anfield.
Shaqiri admitted prior to the World Cup that he would be looking for a move away from Stoke this summer so it is likely that the agreement of personal terms should be relatively straight forward, although nothing can ever be taken for granted when it comes to Liverpool and transfers!
