Liverpool have reportedly been tracking Wilfred Ndidi for a long time with a view to a future transfer but the chances of the Reds completing a deal for the Nigerian star have taken a major blow as he has signed a six-year contract at Leicester City.

The 21-year-old, who arrived from Genk in January 2017, has seen his original contract be ripped up and replaced with a new one with better terms.

The midfielder is now under contract at the King Power Stadium until the summer of 2024, so it will be very, very difficult for the Reds to secure a move for him.

The Reds were reportedly interested in a £54m move for the 21-year-old in the summer but that never materialised, and it looks like they’ll need to turn their attention to other targets now that Ndidi looks set to stay at Leicester for a very long time.
