Virals: Liverpool ‘keeping a close eye’ on FC Porto ace Vitinha

Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders is reportedly ‘keeping a close eye’ on FC Porto midfielder Vitinha ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old has been in sensational form since returning to Portugal following a season-long loan spell at Wolves.

Now, the Reds are believed to be attentive to the ace as Jurgen Klopp continues to bolster the squad following the arrival of Luis Diaz, also from FC Porto.

According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo (via Sport Witness), as cited by LFC Transfer Room on Twitter, Liverpool are one of a number of clubs keen on the talented youngster.

The report claims that Bayern Munich and Lazio are also keen on the 48-cap Portugal youth international with a €40million (£33.3million) release clause.

So far this season Vitinha – who was hailed the ‘complete midfielder’ by Fabio Conceicao – has scored three times and provided another three assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £21.60million and under contract in Portugal until 2024 (Transfermarkt), signing the ace for the mooted release fee would be a superb piece of business.

Possessing a vast array of outstanding midfield attributes, Vitinha would be an ideal addition to Klopp’s squad as the German looks towards the future beyond Thiago, Jordan Henderson and James Milner.

At the suggested price and at just 22, this would appear to be a no-brainer for the Reds.
