Liverpool will face stiff competition in their pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, as the current Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund have entered the race to sign the striker, according to the Mirror.
German champions Bayern Munich have also been monitoring Werner, who only has 18 months remaining on his current deal at Leipzig.
The 22-year-old has previously stated his desire to join Bayern Munich, though it has been reported in Germany that he would only consider a move to the German champions should their star striker Robert Lewandowski be sold.

Jurgen Klopp has reportedly been keeping a close eye on the German international who has scored 11 goals in 17 appearances in the Bundesliga this season.
Liverpool have already sold striker Dominic Solanke to Bournemouth during the January transfer window, and while a firm offer for Werner has not yet been made, Klopp is said to be looking to bolster his attacking options before the deadline.
Similarly, Dortmund are hoping to strengthen their strike force following the sale of Christian Pulisic to Chelsea and boss Lucien Favre has already made Paco Alcacer’s loan move from Barcelona permanent.
Werner has been told by the CEO of RB Leipzig Oliver Mintzlaff to sign a new deal or he will be sold in the summer transfer window.
