Emre Can trains ahead of Champions League final

Liverpool have been given a possible injury boost ahead of the Champions League final as Emre Can has returned to training.

The German international has not featured since March after injuring his back during Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Watford but he’s pushing to be part of the squad for the final in Kiev this weekend and he took part in an open training session at Anfield earlier today.

Can, who looks set to leave the club on a free transfer after the final, would be a welcome addition to a Liverpool bench which has been lacking experience in recent weeks.

Injuries to Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Can had left Liverpool short of midfield options, but with Lallana back fit and with Can pushing for a place on the bench, the squad is starting to look a bit better in terms of depth.

It’s still unclear at this stage if the German will be fit to be a substitute for the game, one which looks certain to be his last in a Liverpool shirt.
