Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that Harry Wilson has returned to Liverpool to have treatment on what he describes as a “strange” injury.
Wilson is on loan at The Cherries for the season and has performed well for them during the campaign but he missed the 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge due to an injury, one that has seen him head back to Melwood for treatment.
As reported by the Bournemouth Daily Echo, Howe said:
Harry’s [injury] is a strange one. He suffered a knock on his leg, a dead leg, but it’s swelled up and the swelling keeps returning. We are going to probably get him back to Liverpool this week and hope he can be back very soon.
When asked why Wilson was going back to Liverpool for treatment, he said:
I just think it’s the right thing to do with him obviously being contracted to Liverpool, just to check he’s okay.

Whether it was Liverpool’s decision or Bournemouth’s decision, it makes sense for Wilson to be treated at Melwood as he is still an asset of the club.
Howe didn’t seem to think that the injury was a serious one and he’ll be hoping to have the Welshman back in his squad as soon as possible.
Liverpool will be hoping the same too as they want Wilson to get as miuch game time as possible on the South Coast for his development.
It’s hard to know what the future holds for the 22-year-old in terms of playing for Liverpool or being sold, but he’s done enough in this current campaign to show that he’s certainly a Premier League level player. So regardless of if the Reds decide to keep him around next summer or not, he should be playing in the top tier next season.
