James Maddison suffers serious knee injury

James Maddison, a reported summer transfer target for Liverpool, suffered what looked like an ACL injury during Norwich City’s 5-1 loss at Sheffield Wednesday.

The 21-year-old was forced off after just 11 minutes of the game and looked in serious distress.

He was later spotted leaving Hillsborough on crutches and speaking after the game, Norwich manager Daniel Farke admitted that the injury looks like a bad one and said that the midfielder is now a doubt to be fit for the start of next season.

The injury, if confirmed, could well scupper any potential summer move for the England U21 international, especially as the transfer window closes before the start of the 2018/19 season.

Liverpool were reportedly looking at completing a move for the former Coventry City man, whilst Tottenham have also been linked with a potential swoop for him.

However, if the injury is confirmed to be as bad as first feared, he’s likely to have to wait until January to complete a transfer.
