James Milner agrees new contract at Liverpool

James Milner agrees new contract at Liverpool

On the same day that it was announced that Jurgen Klopp has agreed a new contract with Liverpool to stay at the club until 2024, the club’s vice-captain has also agreed a new deal too, one that will keep him at Liverpool until 2022.

James Milner, whose original contract was set to expire at the end of the season, had agreed to extend his stay at Anfield.

Milner, who turns 34-years-old next month, would have been free to speak to foreign clubs at the start of January with an eye to making a free transfer in the summer, but that will no longer be the case.

The Yorkshireman has been linked with a move back to his boyhood Leeds United too, but that will no longer be the case.

Liverpool giving a new contract to a player who is about to turn 34 is a bit of a surprise but Milner has displayed that he is still very, very fit and his influence at the club as vice-captain is clear to see.

Liverpool fans will be hoping Milner can add a Premier League title to the Champions League title that he won last year.
