Joe Gomez did not travel with the Liverpool squad as they departed for their Champions League semi-final second leg clash with AS Roma.
The England international suffered an ankle injury during the 0-0 draw with Stoke City at the weekend and as such, he was deemed unfit to feature in Wednesday night’s big game.
Gomez was unlikely to start in Rome, with Trent Alexander-Arnold looking like Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice right-back, but he would have provided a good option from the bench, especially if Liverpool were looking to become a bit more defensive and hold onto a lead.

The Reds take a 5-2 aggregate advantage into the game, so will know that if they can prevent Roma scoring three goals, they will be playing in the Champions League final at the end of the month.
As of yet, there is no word if Gomez will be fit for next Sunday’s game against Chelsea, but it looks unlikely at this stage.
