Neil Critchley, who managed Liverpool during their 5-0 defeat to Aston Villa, says that Ki-Jana Hoever was substituted with cramp, which is why he had to be helped off the pitch by the club’s medical staff.
Liverpool played a very young and inexperienced side at Villa Park as the regular first-team squad are in Qatar to compete in the Club World Cup, and Hoever was one of five players in the starting line-up who had actually played a first-team game in the past.
The Dutchman did very well and was one of the better players on the night for Liverpool, before his evening was ended prematurely due to cramp.
The Reds intend to call up a few of the players who featured at Villa Park and get them on a plane to Qatar and it looks like Hoever will be fine to make that trip if, as expected, he’s selected by Jurgen Klopp.
