Jurgen Klopp has labelled Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over Burnley as a “brilliant result,” as his side closed the gap on league leaders Manchester City to one point.
Pep Guardiola’s side started the day four points clear of Liverpool following City’s 3-0 win over Watford on Saturday, putting pressure on the Reds’ clash against Burnley.
Klopp’s side responded well after going 1-0 down early on against the Clarets, as Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane both scored twice to ensure Liverpool kept pace with title rivals City.
And speaking after the game to the club’s official website, Klopp revealed he is delighted with the win.
It was good, 4-2, brilliant result. We knew it is really difficult against Burnley, it always is for us but most of the time we could win [the games] – and we always felt the work we did. That’s how it should be, all good. It was a good game. A difficult game but a good game.
Liverpool now turn their attention to the second leg of their last 16 Champions League tie with Bayern Munich on Wednesday before returning to Premier League action against Fulham next weekend.
