Liverpool Player Ratings: Ajax (H)

Liverpool safely secured their passage into the knockout stages of the Champions League on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over Ajax at Anfield.

The Reds were without a fresh addition to their lengthy injury list – Alisson Becker – who Jurgen Klopp confirmed is dealing with a hamstring issue.

Adrian, the usual understudy to the Brazilian, was left on the bench, as young Irish stopper Caoimhin Kelleher made his Champions League debut on a huge occasion.

The winning goal came from Curtis Jones – who had been impressive throughout – the local lad met a deep Neco Williams delivery to deftly stroke the ball home at the back post.

Given the difficulty of the situation in which Liverpool currently find themselves, to qualify with a game to spare and seal top spot in the group is an achievement in itself. Klopp will now have the luxury of resting most, if not all, of his stars next Wednesday when his side travel to face FC Midtjylland.

Here’s how we rated the Reds from the rewarding night against Ajax…
