Liverpool have agreed “a January deal in principle’ with Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg for forward Takumi Minamino, according to the ever-reliable Melissa Reddy of The Independent.
According to the report, Liverpool have agreed to pay the £7.25m release clause in Minamino’s contract and as such, he is expected to become a Liverpool player in January.
The Reds have apparently offered the Japanese star a five-year contract and acted quickly to get a deal done as clubs from across the continent were all showing interest in the forward.

Liverpool have been excellent in the transfer market in recent years and if this deal gets over the line, it will be a testament to the work of Michael Edwards and his staff.
Minamino’s release clause means he is coming at a bargain rate and if he can play as well for Liverpool as he did in recent games against them, he’ll be an excellent addition.
