Liverpool legend Michael Owen claims his former side have the advantage over Manchester City in the race for the title.
According to Goal, Owen believes Liverpool’s remaining league games are “easier” than their title rivals, though admits it will be a close finish between the two sides.
Liverpool’s 0-0 draw in the Merseyside Derby on Sunday means Jurgen Klopp’s side are just a point behind Manchester City with nine league games remaining.
And while both sides only face two of the current top six in the run in to the end of the season, Owen believes his former side have the advantage due to their home fixtures.
Liverpool now have played in recent weeks Everton away, Manchester United away and okay, their points have dropped a little bit, but now it changes. Now Manchester City have a more difficult finish.

Liverpool have easier teams. All their difficult games are at Anfield against Chelsea and Tottenham. I think now, even though Manchester City have the advantage in points and goal difference, Liverpool now have the advantage in the games coming up. It’s going to be close.
Owen also believes the race for the title is now just between Liverpool and City, with Tottenham falling out of contention after losing two of their last three league games.
It looks like it’s a two-horse race. There’s only Manchester City and Liverpool that are potentially going to win the Premier League. I’ll feel sorry for whoever doesn’t because in any other year the second team would’ve won the Premier League by maybe 10 points. This year has been an exceptional standard and it’s going to go a long way yet.
