Liverpool are reportedly ready to firm up their long-standing interest in Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella.
The Reds have been perennially linked with a move for the promising Italian midfielder, who has established himself as an integral part of the Cagliari team in the past year.
Barella has caught the eye of many with some instrumental performances in the middle of the park for his side, with the Express reporting that Liverpool are keen to fend off competition from Tottenham Hotspur to complete a deal.
The 21-year-old is held in high esteem by Cagliari and it’s claimed in the report that Barella is currently valued at a sizable fee of £35 million.
Liverpool are already well-stocked with midfield options but Barella has often been touted as a player who Jurgen Klopp admirers, with his stock continuing to rise.
The Reds are, however, not alone in their interest. As aforementioned, Tottenham are believed to be keen, while Serie A giants AC Milan and Inter are also named as potential suitors.
