Liverpool reportedly have bid for Domagoj Vida rejected by Besiktas

Liverpool have had an €18m bid for defender Domagoj Vida rejected by Besiktas, according to reports in Turkey.

Fanatik claim that the Reds made the official offer for the Croatian international, but Besiktas rejected it almost immediately as they value him at around €35m.

The 29-year-old scored an extra-time goal in Croatia’s World Cup quarter-final clash with Russia and also converted his penalty during the shootout as his side advanced to the semi-finals.

Vida only joined Besiktas in January 2018 and did so on a free transfer. The Turkish giants are reportedly happy to let him leave but will only do so if they can secure a huge profit.

Everton, Fulham and West Ham United are also keeping tabs on the defender, although it seems highly unlikely that any of those sides would be willing to pay the reported €35m asking price.

Liverpool paid £75m for Virgil van Dijk in January, but there are still questions about the other defenders in the squad and if this report is to be believed, Vida could be the man to help solve the long-standing issue that the Reds have had at centre-back.
