Liverpool step up their interest in Burnley’s Nick Pope

Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Burnley’s Nick Pope, according to a report from Adrian Kajumba of The Mirror.

The England international, who is currently in Russia as part of Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad, had a breakout season for the Clarets last season after stepping in for the injured Tom Heaton.

According to the report, Liverpool scouts have been doing their homework on Pope, trying to find out more about his personality and character as they consider a possible summer move for him.

Whether the Burnley man is for sale is another matter, although it’s logical to think that there would be a price that the Lancashire club would be willing to sell at to help boost their finances, especially as they’d still have Heaton to come back in as their number one.

The Mirror think that bids of £18m might be enough to get the 26-year-old, but Burnley would likely want more than that for a player who has risen from non-league to England international in just seven years.
