“Expect something surprising”: Fabrizio Romano primes Liverpool fans over possible new signings this summer

The summer transfer window is in full swing and Liverpool have found themselves at the heart of the rumour mill.

So far, the club has already parted ways with Georginio Wijnaldum to PSG and Liam Millar to FC Basel.

Not only this, but the club has also signed French defender Ibrahima Konaté from RB Leipzig for £36million.

Following the current ingoings and outgoings at the club, fans are still expectant of further signings.

Plenty of names have been mooted over the last month with the club looking to find a replacement for Wijnaldum.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the club could surprise a lot of fans this summer.

In an exclusive interview with Anfield Watch, Romano was poised with the question of who he thinks the club could sign next.

His response? Lille and Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches…

The 23-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to the club for some time, even by Romano himself.

However, it is the follow-on from Romano’s answer that intrigues me even more.

The journalist says he expects something surprising in the transfer market from Liverpool this summer.

He fails to elude just as to what that could be but references the club signing of Diogo Jota as the main reason.

Last summer, the Reds announced the shock signing of the Portuguese forward after a quick turnaround.

In the space of days, the club managed to go from expressing their interest to signing Jota.

Romano feels that the club could pull off another shock signing this summer that fans may not expect.

It will be interesting to see how the club’s activity in the market progresses but as Romano states, expect a big surprise.
