Reported Liverpool target Nicolo Barella will cost in excess of €40 million, according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by Calciomercato.
The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in recent months, as several prestigious clubs from across Europe battle in the race for his signature.
Barella has emerged as a standout performer for Cagliari in the past two seasons and has already established himself as an Italy international.

It comes as little surprise to see the likes of Liverpool vying for the midfielder’s services, but it seems they will not be able to secure a cut-price deal for the player in the near future.
Gazzetta’s report indicates that Cagliari will not welcome any offers below €40m, with the Serie A side reluctant to sanction the sale of their star man.
Liverpool also face competition in their pursuit of Barella. It’s reported that Serie A trio Roma, AC Milan and Inter Milan are all in the race to recruit the 21-year-old.
