Marco Asensio has responded to the reports linking him with a move to Liverpool and has revealed that he will hold talks with new Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui after the World Cup to discuss his future.
Asensio is one of the fastest rising stars in European football and reports last week claimed that Liverpool were ready to spend a club record fee of over £100m in order to sign him.
Whilst the story about a supposed bid from the Reds seems to have little substance to it, Liverpool are likely to be interested in such a good player and they may have been given a slight boost after the 22-year-old did not rule out the possibility of a summer move.
When asked about Liverpool’s interest in him, Asensio said:
Liverpool? When the World Cup is over, we’ll talk about that sort of thing, now I’m focused on selection.
He then went on to say that he’ll hold talks with Lopetegui after the World Cup to discuss his future.
I’m glad Julen has signed up for Real Madrid, after the World Cup we’ll talk things over with him.
