When Virgil van Dijk was absent from Liverpool’s training session in Qatar ahead of the Club World Cup, plenty of people were speculating about the Dutchman’s health and the possibility that he had potentially picked up an injury.
However, according to the Liverpool Echo, Van Dijk is not suffering from any injury, even though Liverpool have remained tight-lipped as to why he missed the session.
Van Dijk has been one of Liverpool’s best players this season and has been an ever-present in their team, other than in League Cup games, so Liverpool could just be looking after their star defender by giving him a rest.

Liverpool keeping tight-lipped about Van Dijk’s absence will raise a few eyebrows but as long as he’s not injured, then hopefully the reason isn’t anything too serious.
The Club World Cup, although not ideally timed in the middle of a busy season, gives Liverpool a chance to be crowned as the best club side in the world and Van Dijk will likely want to be a part of the tournament, with Liverpool’s first game set to take place on December 18th.
