Taiwo Awoniyi set to sign new Liverpool deal, despite interest from other top clubs

Taiwo Awoniyi is set to sign a contract extension with Liverpool, despite interest from some of Europe’s other top clubs, according to reports.

Barcelona, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Manchester City and Tottenham have all shown an interest in the 20-year-old, but he is expected to sign an extension with the Reds.

Unfortunately, work permit issues mean that the Nigerian U23 star will have to spend another season out on loan. He’s already had spells at FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen and Royal Excel Mouscron and he’s set to spend another season abroad.

However, the calibre of clubs interested in taking the Nigerian forward on loan indicates how well he’s done elsewhere, with Monaco one of the sides hoping to take him for the season and maybe even longer.

Awoniyi could sign for the former French champions for a two-year spell, after which, Liverpool will be hoping he can finally qualify for a work permit.
